Alison Birdsall promoted to Director, Enterprise Risk Management

Alison Birdsall is the new Director, Enterprise Risk Management in Enterprise Risk & Assurance, effective February 16, 2026.

Alison joined UBC in 2020 as a Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management and has since played a key role in building the foundations for the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, leading the facilitation and ongoing evolution of UBC’s Institutional Risk Register and serving as a trusted risk advisor on a wide range of strategic initiatives. Most recently, Alison was instrumental in translating our new ERM Vision and Strategy into a practical and realistic roadmap that will help us evolve the ERM program further, while at the same time embedding key risk management capabilities in our practices and decision making, and driving sustained change in our risk maturity and risk culture.

As the new Director of ERM, Alison will lead the ERM team and partner with the broader leadership community to continue shaping the ERM Program into a strategic enabler and advancing us along our journey. Alison brings strong domain expertise in ERM which together with her understanding of the organization and established relationships will serve her well into her new role.
